DC to DC Converter
Reliable DC-DC Converters For Applications On The Go
Hummingbird Electronics is a leading manufacturer of state-of-the-art DC-to-DC converters for trucking applications. Versions are available for 24V and 12V vehicles that convert to a range of lower voltages, with the most popular being 24V to 12V. All voltage variants are available in a standard range for cost sensitive applications as well as a professional range; with the professional range offering additional safety features. Typical applications would include power for two-way radios, audio, mobile-phone, scanner, tracking units and lighting.
Powerful Performance
The latest in high-frequency synchronous switching ensures the highest possible efficiency, resulting in lower cost, smaller size and higher reliability.
Designed for harsh trucking applications, standard features include:
Designed for harsh trucking applications, standard features include:
- Reverse polarity protection via fuse
- Transient voltage protection
- Over-temperature protection
- Internal current limiting
- User replaceable fuse
- Physical isolation of the input in the event that the supply voltage goes out of specification.
- Physical isolation of the output in the event of over voltage or over current.
- Reverse polarity protection independent of the fuse
- Additional filtering of the output voltage for sensitive applications like digital mobile radio
- LED indication that the input and output voltages are within range
- LED indication in the event of over current
- Additional transient voltage protection
Rugged Hardware
Both ranges are supplied in a rugged aluminium enclosure with ABS plastic end caps that allow screw mounting when required.
The standard series is supplied with industry standard 6.3mm spade connectors that allow for quick installation and reliable operation. The professional series is supplied with high current capacity colour coded wire connections. Other connector options are available on request. A built in fuse holder uses standard automotive blade fuses rated according to the current capacity of the supply.
A waterproof marine version of the professional series is available. The marine version is supplied with an external cable and not a spade connector. An external fuse on the input is not supplied, and it is suggested that the user install a suitable fuse on installation.
