Harsh Braking and Accident Detector (HMBS8888)
Know When Those In Your Care Require Assistance Even If They Are Unable To Request It
Hummingbird's Accident and Harsh Braking Detector is an impact sensor that has been optimised to detect forces typical of those involved in harsh driving and vehicle accidents. Additional roll-over detection has also been incorporated.
The units are designed to trigger an alarm when harsh braking; an impact or an upside down vehicle is detected.

Powerful Performance
Hummingbird's Accident Detector measures G-forces in all three dimensions and is able to detect harsh braking; horizontal impacts at any angle to the vehicle and roll-over.
The harsh braking output is triggered if an acceleration or deceleration exceeding 0.7G's is detected for more than 400msec. The horizontal impact trigger is activated if the vehicle experiences an impact resulting in a force of 7G or more for a period exceeding 8 msec. Roll-over detection is achieved using an integrated tilt sensor. To ensure the minimum number of false alarms, the tilt sensor is heavily damped so that driving on poor roads will not cause a false alarm.
Two trigger outputs are provided. If a harsh braking event is detected, the green wire will go from 0V to the input voltage. If an impact event or roll-over is detected, the yellow wire will go from 0V to the input voltage. In either event, the red LED will light. Assuming that the event that caused the trigger is no longer present, the trigger outputs will return to 0V and the LED will go off after approximately 30 seconds.
When power is first applied to the unit, the red LED will light for approximately 20 seconds. The sensor is calibrating itself during this time and will not be able to detect any events.
Designed for harsh automotive environments, the module features transient voltage protection on the supply and short circuit protected outputs.
