Hummingbird finalists for Hunter Manufacturing Awards

Hummingbird Electronics has been selected as a finalist for the Innovation and Rising Star Awards at the annual Hunter Manufacturing Awards (HMA).

The HMA is a non-for-profit organisation with the objective of promoting manufacturing excellence throughout the Hunter, Central Coast and Mid North Coast regions. They play a significant role in the regions manufacturing history and are committed to ensuring manufacturing plays an integral role in the region’s future.

The Innovation Award recognises a manufacturing company that has introduced an innovative product, process or service that has contributed to reducing costs, increasing sales, improving the quality or safety of a manufacturing company's goods or services.

James Kingham, Electronics Design Engineer has been nominated for the Rising Star Award, which recognises an employee who has made an outstanding personal contribution to manufacturing business through their leadership ability.

Speaking of the nominations, Founder and Innovation Manager, Norman Ballard said, “We are extremely proud of the nominations, we thank the Hunter Manufacturing Awards for recognizing our achievements. These achievements reflect our great employees who continually embrace innovation on a daily basis”.

Innovation and continuous improvement are at the heart of Hummingbirds core values, this is reflected through the awards they have won in the past including the 2014 HMA Innovation Award and Excellence in Manufacturing Awards and 2014 BEC Excellence in Innovation Award.

These award nominations coincide with busy times for Hummingbird, in September they completed their move to their new purpose-built innovation centre located at the Williamtown Aerospace Centre (WAC) outside Newcastle and adjacent to Australia’s largest operating Air Force base the RAAF Williamtown.
